4-H COUNCIL MINUTES
for April 10th, 2010
Meeting called to order by Melba Riel at 1:23 pm.
Those in attendance: Melba Riel, Corinne Olsen, Karen Poe, Alexia Bost, Ron Poe, Anita Raddatz
Minutes of March meeting approved unanimously with Motion 1-Anita and Motion 2-Ron.
Minutes of Nov. meeting unavailable so still needs a vote.
1. Reports:
a. Financial Report- Anita handed out current balances.
b. YLT/Ambassadors Report- Cheryl
1. Service-braille books will take one another month and hopefully be done. Karen will email Federation for the Blind to tell them.
2. Teen retreat- Corinne Olsen reported on the activities they did and felt that it was a good retreat. Brent Watson, Calan Olsen, Corinne & Steven Olsen, Sarah & Cheryl Bartholomew, and Brent Watson’s friend attended.
3. TRY TEAMS: Robotics will stay in June. Calan will work with science club at school to get his hours.
4. Training- Given training on minute taking and reporting.
5. Ambassador dates: Sept. 1st will be the date that new ambassadors are chosen in Sanpete County and they will start in October.
c. Expansion & Review Team report- Nothing to report
d. County Clubs: Hooks & Needles club in Mt. Pleasant- doing embroidery and crochet.
Fingers on Fire club at Hveems- crocheting hats
GPS- Meet at office on April 24th @10am to do maps
Media project-Anita/Cheryl (continues on)
Audiocast- Anita (did not meet today)
Karen mentioned a problem with Rabbit club. She is working with contractors to help get a new door and possible misters inside the small animal barn since the fairboard doesn’t have the money to make the improvements.
e. Promotion: Did marketing through the state at Leadermete. Council meeting was missed in the newspaper.
f. Contests:
April 10th- 4-H Talent Expo. (Will have Cheryl report at next council meeting)
?????- 4-H Cooking Contests @ Snow College kitchens (Anita will provide time to practice in the kitchens) There was some confusion about the dates for the cooking contest and when they will practice.
?- Region Contests
g. Website update: Anita encouraged us to go and look at the site.
2. Current business:
a. Workshops:
April 10th- NO WORKSHOP (Talent Expo)
May 8th - TRY Science activities (TRY Lotions & Potions team)

August 14th- Create for Fair (Sewing)-Melba
How to: Fair Judging
Sept. 11th- Aerospace activities at Fly-in at Mt. Pleasant airport (YLT/4-H leaders)
b. Scholarship committee- nothing to report
c. Leadermete- Anita reported that ½ of the classes were really good. It’s in St. George next year.
d. Achievement Night: Cheryl wasn’t here to report if a place was found to hold achievement night.
e. Horse Shows: Have not heard yet if they accepted our offer to provide food services on July 6th.
f. JYC: Approved $55 for each JYC attendee to come out of the funds for 4-H Youth Trips to help them pay for the registration. Motion 1- Corinne, Motion 2- Karen
g. New business for next meeting: JYC meals at Snow College, Help pay registration for anyone attending Adventure camp???
