4-H COUNCIL MINUTES
for Feb. 13, 2010
Meeting called to order by Melba Riel at 1:29 pm.
Those in attendance: Melba Riel, Corinne Olsen, Karen Poe, Alexia Bost, Cheryl Bartholomew, Anita Raddatz
Minutes of Jan. meeting approved unanimously with Motion 1-Karen and Motion 2-Corinne.
Minutes of Nov. meeting unavailable so still needs a vote.
1. Reports:
a. Financial Report- Anita handed out current balances. Scholarship Fund will now be listed on separate page so it is available to scholarship committee.
b. YLT/Ambassadors Report- Cheryl
1. Service-braille books will take one more month and they will be done.
2. Ambassador meetings: Feb. 20th, March 12-13th (teen retreat)
Need to provide skit bag of 20 items for teen retreat.
3. TRY TEAMS: Science Palooza workshop today. 15 kids attended.
Workshop during retreat will still be held because they are not attending retreat. Brent will do his class during the Lotions and Potions month.
4. Training- Given training on minute taking and reporting.
5. Ambassador dates: Sept. 1st will be the date that new ambassadors are chosen in Sanpete County and they will start in October.
c. Expansion & Review Team report- The state did not want us to do a survey again. They want a committee to be able to converse about the items. There is a minimum of 1 meeting required per year. Staff & key volunteers meet with the expansion & review team and provide knowledge and experience. They need to consider everything this team comes up with but doesn’t have to do it. We need to use word of mouth to find people that should serve on this committee. There will be two people from each council. Voted unanimously for Melba Riel and Karen Poe (Motion 1-Corinne, Motion 2-Cheryl) to serve on the expansion & review team from this council. After team is formed from the councils, they will look at the demographics and see if they need to add others from the community.
d. County Clubs: Hooks & Needles club in Mt. Pleasant- doing embroidery and needlepoint.
Fingers on Fire club at Hveems on Wed’s at 3:30pm (crochet-4 members)
GPS- Karen (GPS service project done)
Chad will do the map.
Media project-1 group expressed interest.
Audiocast- They interviewed Anita today.
e. Promotion: More signs are coming from Logan. Anita is on the radio once a month. Channel 10 runs videos created by Anita. You can also watch them on you tube and the USU website. There are 66 videos that are each 8 minutes long.
f. Contests:
April 10th- 4-H Talent/public speaking/robotics/ demos/ Fashion Revue Expo. @ Eva Beal auditorium
June 12th- 4-H Cooking Contests @ Snow College kitchens (Anita will provide time to practice in the kitchens)
?- Region Contests
g. Website update: Debbie and Anita have been working on it every day. Everything will go to a blog. They are going to use Google Analytics to measure the hits to the site.

b. Scholarship endowment application: Need 2 people from each council. Mark Oakley will be from the horse council and will get another person.
c. 4-H Achievement Card /Pin awards for new year: Cheryl presented new & revised applications.
