4-H COUNCIL MINUTES
for August 14th, 2010

Meeting called to order by Melba Riel at 1:20 pm.

Those in attendance: Melba Riel, Corinne Olsen, Karen Poe, Anita Raddatz, Ron Poe, Ron Poe, Jr., Cheryl Bartholomew, Alexia Bost, Anita Raddatz

Minutes of July meeting approved unanimously with Motion 1-Corinne and Motion 2-Cheryl.
Minutes of Nov. meeting approved unanimously with Motion 1-Ron and Motion 2-Karen.

1. Reports:

a. Financial Report- Anita presented current report.

b. Nominations: Karen voted in unanimously for President of the coming year. Melba voted in unanimously for Secretary of the 4-H Council for the coming year.

c. YLT/Ambassadors Report- Cheryl
1. Service-braille books almost done. Tied a 2nd baby quilt.
2. Ambassador chosen were notified. Voted on leadership for YLT. Ice breakers: Samantha & Cody, Photographer: Dylan, President: Brent Watson, Pres. Elect: Brandon Hveem, Sec: Sarah Bartholomew, Calling Chair: Ron Poe, Treasurer: Steven Olsen, Service Project Chair: Erin Pipes, Promotion/Parade Chair: Daina Taylor. Will induct ambassadors at Achievement Night.
3. TRY TEAMS: State will train space TRY teams but county will do the rest of the training. The kids will teach the workshops. They are required to teach 3 separate rotations during a workshop. They are supposed to tell Cheryl which month they would like to teach in. Water quality specialists are coming for the Nov. workshop. There will be no training during TLT this year.
4. Parades- Will be in fair parade.
5. Training- There will be a county training for ambassadors in August. TRY training will be in October. Karen will do earthquake training in Sept.
6. National Promotion Week- They are each making a poster for it. They are to bring it back to Cheryl in Sept.
7. National Science Experiment- Will be led by YLT members.

d. Expansion & Review Team report- Will meet in Sept.

e. County Clubs: Hooks & Needles club in Mt. Pleasant- Melba is coming to the office to register projects online for the fair

Scrapbook club- Cheryl
2 girls came to the workshop

2 new people are interested-Dylan is coming to do a demo on Aug. 20th at 4pm.

f. Promotion: Anita reported that the Centerfield office is going well.

g. Contests: State Fair needs judges for Sept. 3rd. Need to let them know by August 27th. They will provide lunch.


h. Website update: Anita reported that she has been adding and changing and the site is not that different.

2. Current business:
a. Workshops:

Sept. 11th- We do not have to do anything for this but will encourage 4-H members to go to it.
Will still hold YLT at 11am on that day.

b. Scholarship committee- 1 scholarship application came in.

c. Achievement Night: At the Ephraim Senior Citizen’s Center on Thurs., Sept. 30th at 6pm. Will hold silent auction like last year. If anyone has items to donate, let Cheryl know.

d. Horse Show concessions: Made over $100 in profit.

e. Sanpete County Fair: Special contests and farmers market available. Anita has received 3 phone calls on the farmers market. If you enter your item in the special contests, you enter the item twice. Once in the lot and once in the contest. You should have two labels for the same entry.

f. New business for next meeting: Workshop dates, Fair evaluation
